Thomson Habitats has recently taken delivery of a new CAT 279D hi-flow compact tracked loader
complete with mulcher, flail head and trencher.
The machine has a Tier 4 Final compliant engine to comply with the latest emissions regulations.
The loader uses biodegradable hydraulic oil to reduce our environmental impact. In addition, the
it has been fitted with 450mm wide rubber tracks to reduce the machine’s ground pressure and to
facilitate working in sensitive environments such as SSSIs, SACs and SPAs.
Associate Director Dan Thomas said, “We have been looking at investing in a new multi-purpose
tool carrier for the past couple of years. We have been looking to diversify our service offering
and have been looking for different plant that can work efficiently in a variety of environments.
The CAT 279D ticked the boxes in terms of reliability, versatility and performance. Additionally,
its low ground pressure and hydraulic bio-oil will enable us to continue to operate in sensitive
areas. We are looking forward to putting it to work!”
The machine will be available for use either on a contract or operated hire basis from the end of
November.
