Thomson Ecology and Thomson Habitats join forces on new school project

Thomson Ecology and Thomson Habitats have worked together to facilitate the construction of a new school and associated leisure facilities.

Thomson Ecology was involved early on by providing the ecological surveys and associated mitigation strategies, and Thomson Habitats was contracted to
support the reptile translocation works.

This involved the supply and installation of almost 1km of temporary reptile fencing and localised vegetation clearance, and working closely alongside
the LPA Tree Office and our in-house arboricultural consultants, Thomson Habitats designed and installed a bespoke reptile fencing design around root
protection areas. The design helped to prevent damage to the tree root system and also helped to reduce compaction.

Despite the tight time frame and the specific root protection area requirements, the works were completed to programme.
