We’re delighted and excited to have reached the shortlist for Project of the Year by a specialist contractor in this year’s Construction News specialists awards. The project that caught the judge’s eye in the £3-5m category was for our ecological mitigation work with HS2 Ltd and Fusion in Aylesbury.
Specialist habitat management and ecology teams from Thomson worked on ecological mitigation and green corridor creation on the proposed route of HS2 in Aylesbury. This is the largest project of its kind ever undertaken, so the scale and complexity of the scheme was huge, involving the whole company in one way or another.
Client comments and feedback have been overwhelmingly positive with particular comments about employee flexibility, the ability to problem solve issues and expertise in this specialism.
The project has had many benefits for Thomson, not least allowing us to showcase our existing expertise but also to up-skill our workforce and our contractor’s workforce’s, adding a range of new skills to many of our team’s CVs.
The sheer size and complexity of the project meant that our project managers were looking after seven sites in total with two project managers per site and a large contract and supply chain of over 40 suppliers.
The awards ceremony takes place at the end of March 2019. Wish us luck!
