We recently returned to a site in Winchester to carry out maintenance works, following our work during 2012 to enhance the area so that it could be used as a receptor site for great crested newts and reptiles.
This included managing trees and vegetation, sowing wildflower seed mix, and building log piles and brick hibernacula.
This year we returned to install reptile fencing and pitfall traps. Once the reptiles and newts had been safely trapped, we removed the fencing, and the newts and reptiles were released into the receptor site.
