After much excitement at the arrival of our new compact track loader, a CAT 279D, we have been able to put it into action on our reptile mitigation project in Arlesey, Bedfordshire.
Our qualified operator mulched over a hectare of dense scrub and bramble using the mulcher attachment, and installed around 500m of temporary reptile fencing for our client’s proposed residential development site.
It was important that the works were carried out sensitively due to the presence of reptiles on site. Our compact track loader was used because it has extremely low ground pressure as well as the ability to clear vegetation to a set height above the ground, therefore minimising disturbance to hibernating reptiles.
We installed temporary reptile fencing to the development site perimeter, which sealed off the adjacent area of land which could then be used as a receptor site for reptiles and other wildlife.
By using our multi-purpose CAT 279D machine, we were able to achieve significant cost savings for our client, by carrying out the works mechanically and reducing the amount of labour required on site.
