We have appointed Dr Phil Aldous and Joe Harries to our senior management team as we continue to strengthen growth across all areas of ecology consultancy.
Dr Phil Aldous is joining the firm as the Director of the water division. Phil has qualifications in environmental science, hydrogeology and environmental law. This is combined with over 30 years of working in the water sector covering a mix of utility, research and consultancy experience. His career
spans an initial period at the Water Research Centre (WRc), then 20 years in a number of roles covering water resources, carbon reporting, waste management and regulatory compliance at Thames Water, followed by the last eight years in environmental consultancy.
Phil said, “I look forward to expanding Thomson Ecology’s presence in the water consultancy field, building on their excellent and world-leading marine capability and offering additional freshwater and groundwater services to existing and future clients.”
Joe Harries has joined as Head of Landscape Architecture. Joe has been involved in the industry for over 20 years with experience spanning both the public and private sectors working on a spectrum of projects in a range of capacities and scales from inception to completion. As well as delivering large scale mixed-use regeneration projects for commercial clients, his work in the public sector focused on green infrastructure, planning policy, SuDS, Landscape character assessment, recreation, parkland, and local nature reserves.
Joe said, “I am very excited by the challenge. There is an obvious synergy between the geospatial, ecology, water and habitat creation teams. The development and growth of the landscape architecture team will further help to join the dots and offer our clients a unique and holistic service.”
Nancy Thomson, Chairman and Chief Executive, said: “Both Phil and Joe will be key additions to the Thomson leadership team. Phil’s knowledge of the water industry and the wider environmental water sector and Joe’s excellent experience in landscape architecture will be invaluable as we look to broaden our service offering, and provide more innovative solutions for our clients.“
